These started out as Norwegian medisterkaker, which are eaten at Christmas, something I have always felt is a shame as they are delicious at any time of year. However, to these ones I added plenty of garlic and apple, making them really quite different and therefore qualifying them for an entry on this blog. Oh and they are quite delicious!

Ingredients
500g lean pork mince
2 apples coarsely grated
3 cloves garlic
250ml milk
2.5 tbsp cornflour
2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp grated nutmeg
100-200ml boiling water
Method
Mix all the ingredients apart from the milk and water in a large bowl. Knead them together with your hands, then gradually add the milk and keep kneading. You can use a machine if you prefer, but I like to be up and involved.
Now fry them as small meatballs or larger burgers until they are brown on both sides, then add the boiling water to the pan and steam them till they are cooked though and the water has evaporated.
